| Kale woke up lying in front of King Yemma's Check in Station in the Afterlife. He really felt like he'd been here before, but he couldn't say why. He walked into the station after waiting behind a line of souls. He stook in front of the gigantic mahogany desk of King Yemma and cleared his throat.
"Mmmhrhmmrhrm. Excuse me, King Yemma?" |

| King Yemma leaned over his mahogany desk and looked down at Kale, "Dead, now, are we?"
He rummaged through the papers on his desk, finding Kale's file. He mumbled some thing as he read through it, "...Kale...Saiyan...Dragonballs..."
"So, Kale. It seems to me you're worthy of keeping your body."

| "Thank you Lord Yenma. If it would please you, I would like to be allowed to train under King Kai. There are those on Earth who are in need of an example of what to strive for. I fear for the one who sent me here," Kale said. |

| "You've certainly proved yourself during Earth's recent trouble with the Okami," King Yemma stroked his beard as he gave it some thought.
"The path to King Kai, Snake Way, is a difficult journey to make. You are indeed one of the more powerful beings to be in search of his training. Your cause seems just, but do you really believe yourself prepared for such a task?"

| "Spoken like a true warrior," King Yemma stated.
"So be it!"
He beckoned for Kale to make his way behind the mahogany desk.
"Follow that path. It shall lead you to the mouth of Snake Way. Best of luck to you." |

| Kale ran along Snake Way as quick as he could. He felt as if he'd done this before, like an unfortunate accident had sent him back to the beginning of his journey. The same yellow clouds whipped by. The same emerald pathway sped behind him as he ran. This was going to get old quickly. As he ran he considered all those still on Earth. Reiji was in need of serious help. He was obviously possessed and the last time Kale checked, that was never good for anyone. The youth had some serious power, but how much of it was just his? How powerful was this spirit who had taken over Reiji during their battle? Kale also worried about Bault. Their adventures in the Room of Spirit and Time had certainly strengthened the both of them. Their audience with the Kami of Earth was enlightening and fulfilling and Kale felt certainly better for it, but he was still troubled for Bault. The noble had lived his entire life without knowing what he was or where he came from or what his purpose should be. Kale couldn't imagine living with a weight like that, which explained why Bault was a bit unhinged when he transformed. Blizzard, poor poor Blizzard. The last of a race the Saiyans had destroyed. Kale felt personally responsible for that atrocity. He hadn't been there, but his rank was high enough that he could've stopped the campaign. He hadn't thought anything of Pluto before, but he wished he had. He heard that the grandeur over the icy peaks at sunrise was breathtaking, but all those who drew breath were long gone from Pluto, save Blizzard. Kale felt that his place was now on Earth, at least until that world was stabilized. The King on Vegeta had become corrupt and ineffective. Many Saiyans had lost their way...including Kale. He'd become cruel and self-absorbed and consumed with the concept of Saiyan pride. His pride and arrogance would be his undoing. Kale's time alone on Snake Way had taught him that much. As he ran, all alone, one speck in the Afterlife, Kale felt the weight of his pride and heritage lifting from his shoulders. What did it matter that he was a Saiyan? What power did that give him? Being a Super Saiyan meant nothing if he did not fight for something bigger than himself. Something righteous and good, as opposed to fighting for his own honor and to defeat opponents and impose his will upon them. Perhaps this was the real reason he had been sent to Earth, to die. To come to the end of his pride and to fall, and from that fall to learn and be remade. Perhaps his was to take the path of Son Goku and to abandon the pride of the Saiyans and to become the selfless warrior who fights for others who cannot fight. Fighting for himself had really never gained Kale anything but greater power. Power that was useless, except to gain even more power. He needed a purpose. Kale paused and rested. He'd been running for...at least days if not weeks. He was completely tired but surprisingly not very hungry. Kale never felt the massive appetite of the Saiyans but even after all this work he was not hungry. He heard the souls wailing from Hell below for release and he could swear he could hear the laughter of those in Heaven above. He was stuck in the middle, as he always had been. Never good, but never evil. Always walking in the twilight with no real connections. Kale needed to change. This life was going to end badly and he did not want that. Would it be such a terrible thing to give up on Vegeta, his duty to the army and his people, and step up as a protector of the weak? To walk the path of the hero and sacrifice his own ambition and goals and plans? To...to cease his search for General Dai and protect those who were so desperately in need of a champion? No, Kale thought to himself. "Stop your wandering for the General. He wouldn't want you to keep looking after this long. Do what you've been called to do Kale." Kale made up his mind. His time in the Saiyan Army, as long as it was corrupt and murderous, was over. His service to a cruel and greedy king was finished. Kale would take up the mantle of being an actual hero. His time on Earth had made it painstakingly clear that his purpose was to be a champion of righteousness in the places it was so desperately needed. He was surprised when the end of the Snake Way came up at his feet. He leapt high into the air, flying to the small planet at the end of the road. Landing and noticing the high gravity, Kale walked, slightly stumbling, over to the house there. "Hello? King Kai sir?" OOC: Done. Might wanna read that. Serious character progression |

| Kale knocked on the door to the small igloo-looking house on the tiny planet at the end of Snake Way. "Hello? Excuse me, is anyone home? Kaio-sama?" From across the yard, a croaking voice answered Kale. "What do you want? I'm over here yaknow!" Kale looked around the house and saw a small blue man wearing a black frock over a crimson robe with a black matching hat. He was washing and waxing a vintage Cadillac and paying very little attention to Kale. "Excuse me, you are Kaio-sama, correct?" "Yeah yeah, whaddaya want? I'm busy here yaknow. This wax needs to be applied quickly."
Kale shrugged and picked up a rag and began to polish where Kaio-sama hadn't yet started. "So, you take really good care of your vehicle don't you Lord Kaio?" "Oh yes, she's my baby! I polish her every week and inspect her every day to make sure she's in top mint condition." Kaio-sama hadn't really seemed to notice that Kale was helping him polish his car, but he had taken it into consideration that Kale had died and run all this way to see him and was now helping with his chores. "So, why are you here? I know Yemma didn't send you here to buff my car's fenders. I suppose you're here to learn eh? And from Earth too? Everyone who's ever been here has almost always been from Earth."
"Lord, I fell in battle because of my own arrogance and blindness. I believe the Kami of my homeworld, Vegeta, as well as the Kami of Earth and Lord Yemma see some larger purpose in me and thus I have been sent to seek training under your lordship. I believe it is my destiny to throw aside my wants and desires and to protect those who need protecting and to avenge the fallen at the hands of evil. I have been that evil for too long and I seek to atone for my past sins and prevent future ones." Kaio-sama looked Kale up and down, as if he were peering into the Saiyan's very soul. "Hmm...I've seen that type of armor more than I'd like. A very checkered history indeed boy.........but there is hope in you yet. You've got alot more to do once you leave here, that I can promise you." Kale smiled and turned back to waxing the car. "Put that down, you've got real work to do. Besides, you have no idea what you're doing. It's all smudged anyway," the old god smiled, chuckling at the Saiyan. |

| Kaio-sama instructed Kale to acclimate himself to the higher gravity of his world. Kale was used to various gravity but ten times Earth's gravity was a little beyond his normal limits. He initially struggled just to walk through Kaio-sama's lawn, leaving heavy footprints in the grass. Ignoring his Super Saiyan powers, Kale pressed on with the challenge to master the increased gravity. A slight misstep, however, and Kale fell to the ground.
After a moment to yell at himself for weakness, Kale struggled greatly to return to his feet. He could feel his muscles straining against the gravity. As his armor stretched under the pressure of gravity, Kale began to stand. His body felt like lead and his hands might has well have been made of stone as he lifted them from the ground. The breeze flowed through the grass, rustling each blade just as it did on Earth, but this small planet was enveloped by a crushing field that Kale was amazed had not crippled Kaio-sama yet.
As he got back to his feet, he summoned some of his strength and began to run. With each step, it felt as if he were going to stomp through the tiny planet. Kale was surprised he could even move, let alone run swiftly around the planet. He gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and just kept running. He would either acclimate or come apart at the seams, and Kale wasn't exactly sure which was worse.
He wasn't sure exactly when each step stopped feeling as if it were 10,000 pounds of lead crashing into the soil, but it happened. His footsteps became lighter and more natural. His chest began to relax and his breathing became much more natural, instead of struggling with his lungs to take in any air. He smiled as he sped through his running, and he leapt off the ground without difficulty. He came back to the ground and continued to leap, higher each time until Kaio-sama's planet was a small dot under him.
He sped back to the ground in front of Kaio-sama with a smile on his face. "Your planet is deceptive, Lord. It nearly got the best of me." Kaio-sama chuckled to himself, smiling at Kale from behind his glasses. "It is the first of many tests I have in store for you Kale. You have passed this one, but your determination is going to be brought to its limits." |

| Kaio-sama snickered as Kale prepared for his next task. The god asked Kale to simply catch his pet monkey Bubbles. Since Kale had acclimated to the high gravity, he didn't quite understand why this would be such a daunting task. Bubbles took off like a shot, hooting and jumping as Kale stared, confused.
As Kale chased the ape, he felt the warm wind blowing in from Snake Way in his face. It reminded him of his vow to become the arm of Kami's will. If he had to catch a monkey, so be it. Bubbles was incredibly fast and tricky to match, constantly outwitting Kale at every opportunity. Kale almost grasped the ape only to feel his fur vanish from his fingers.
Bubbles ran zigzag through the trees, evading Kale's attempts to catch him with ease. The Saiyan laughed as he dashed after the ape, leaving afterimages in his wake. Frightened, Bubbles backed up against the large tree near Kaio-sama's house. Kale leapt out of the tree and grasped the monkey's tail, jumping up and down in excitement. Kale carried Bubbles to Kaio-sama, and plopped him down on the ground. The god smiled and simply handed Kale a large mallet.
"What am I supposed to do with this, squash your pet??" Kale asked in a horrified tone. "Oh god no son! This is for your next test," Kaio-sama laughed. "You know, if you stayed here longer you could learn from me, the greatest comedy master in the galaxy...but no one ever wants that. You younger generation just have no time for the ancient art of humor!" Kale stood with a bead of sweat running down his face as a cricket rocketed in between them. "Gregory reporting for duty Lord Kaio-sama!" The cricket chirped, waiting for orders.
"Now then, Kale, your job is to smack Gregory as hard as you can on the head with that hammer. I warn you, though, he's very fast!" Gregory smirked at Kale and sped off in a blur of light with Kale in hot pursuit. Within thirty seconds, Kale had smacked Gregory and dragged him back, unconscious, to Kaio-sama. "Guess I'm getting used to this gravity faster than I thought, Lord." "Yes...most promising," Kaio-sama smirked, surprised at Kale's sudden success.
"How did you do that?" Kaio-sama asked Kale in shock. "Easy really, I've adapted to your gravity enough to use all my power to chase him down and then *bonk* he was out." Kale smiled as he tapped Kaio-sama on the head with the hammer, which seemed to irk the god a great deal. "This is no time for jokes!" "But Kaio-sama, don't you want me to learn the ancient art of humor?" "......YOUR REAL TRAINING BEGINS NOW!" Kaio-sama yelled at Kale, angry that Kale had trolled him successfully.
Out of Kaio-sama's hut stepped two legendary warriors, Olibu of Earth and Son Goku, the Saiyan hero. "Kale here will be challenging one of you to a duel to test his potential for my training. As my best students, you shall judge his worth and teach him anything you see fit. Alright, let's do it boys!" Kale shuddered a little. He knew he would challenge Son Goku, but the very thought scared him crapless.

Suddenly, the small planet began to shake as a bright light appeared in front of the Kaio. The light faded to reveal a hooded figure with a monstrous power, rocketing past 250,000. Olibu was scared crapless, but Son Goku didn't seem worried in the slightest that the individual was here. In fact, he seemed thrilled. The hooded figure smiled before saying:
"Olibu, take a hike - you're precense is no longer required," said the figure, causing Olibu to leave without a second thought. "A-Archangel Zadkiel? What are you doing here!?" exclaimed Kaio-sama. "Kaio, I'm sorry to bother you, but your boy here is on a rather short time clock. I got a favor from a friend of mine that wants Kale here back on Earth ASAP. However, seeing as I came here early, I'll wait until he gets a bit more training in him first. Father approves." "Y...yes, of course," Kaio-sama cleared his throat, and motioned for Son Goku and Kale to get started.
The legendary Saiyan hero seemed far too confused as to what exactly was going on, but he got the part of Kale having to go back to Earth. He stretched out his arms, having that confident grin on his face.
"I don't know what's going on, but you seem to have a lot to do today. So, we can at least make this count," the Saiyan hero got into a combative stance, "You ready?" _________________ Power Level - 5000 Theme - A Day to Remember - All Signs Point to Lauderdale |

| Kale smiled, relishing this golden opportunity. He didn't even bother acknowledging the Archangel as his eyes remained fixed on Son Goku. Kale dropped into a combative state and smiled. "Always." He rushed at Son Goku, twisting his body in mid-air to hurl his right leg in a heavy kick to Goku's upper body. He knew this would do nothing to the hero, but it seemed a good way to start out. |

| Goku deflected the kick with his forearm, grinning, "Well, now, you're much tougher than most of the Saiyans I've seen over the last few centuries. This is gonna be fun!"
Goku lowered his PL to 15% of his norm, hoping to not accidentally kill the Saiyan warrior in a single hit. He aimed a solid punch towards Kale, attempting to send him flying. He wanted to test Kale's endurance and see how he would last.

| Kale blocked the punch with his forearms but still was sent back quickly, his heels digging trenches in the dirt as he went back. "Well now, that wasn't as bad as I expected. I hope you don't mind if I borrow a page from your book?" Kale's aura burned around him as he unleashed his Mastered Super Saiyan powers, his hair standing up and energy crackling around him. He leapt into the air, charging at Son Goku, aiming a flurry of punches down on the greatest warrior in history. "I know I'm still nowhere near a match for you, but I couldn't live with myself if I didn't give it my all!" |

| Goku, seeing the Super Saiyan transformation, grinned in delight as he once more deflected the strikes, increasing his power to 65,000 - this was truly going to be an interesting fight, "So you have mastered your Super Saiyan, as well?" after hearing Kale's words, he smiled, "whatever floats your boat. Get ready, cause things are gonna get heated!"
The legendary Saiyan rushed forward, and aimed a flurry of his own strikes towards Kale, aiming to break down his defenses. Meanwhile, the Archangel Zadkiel look on, amazed at what was easily the best fight he has seen in over five centuries.
"By Father...Bault was right about this one - he's good," whispered the immortal angel, impressed.

| Kale deflected and blocked the first few attacks, but then was struck hard on his cheek, sending him flying to the ground a few yards away. He got up and wiped blood from his lip and laughed. "Oh it is ON son!" Kale roared and flew at Goku, teleporting behind him and firing a massive ki wave at the legend. Kale took no notice further of Zadkiel or Kaio-sama. He only saw the prize ahead of him: a battle with Son Goku, a legend and the hero of his race. |

| Goku was hit by the blast, causing a miniature explosion to occur around them. When the dust settled, he was no longer there. Suddenly, Kale would feel a spike of power occuring several meters in his blind spot.
"Ka...me..."
If Kale were to turn, he would see Goku with his hands cupped around a blue basketball-sized orb of energy, which seemed to luminate with power. Time seemed to slow down for everyone else besides Goku as he charged it.
"Ha...me...HA!!"
Goku thrust the ball forward, firing off a large, blue wave of energy towards Kale. Since he seemed to be getting serious, it was only fair that he would join in on the fun, himself. _________________ Power Level - 5000 Theme - A Day to Remember - All Signs Point to Lauderdale |

| Kale stuttered for a moment, only to marvel that he was on the receiving end of a Kamehameha wave. He braced himself for the attack, summoning all his strength to block the attack but he was caught against the blast Vegeta-style and shot off into the sky. A few moments later, Kale fell to the ground, his armor cracked and broken and he was quite injured. He coughed and managed to work himself to his feet, signaling to Son Goku that the battle was over.
"Best fight I've ever had, even if it was so short. I'm honored to have faced you Son Goku. I wonder, is there anything you might teach me? I seem to have lots of work ahead of me and I'll take all the help I can get." |

Goku grinned as he brushed off Kale, "You have a lot of skill and fighting spirit. With enough training, you would be able to defeat Frieza as he is now. But at the moment, I don't really have nothing much to teach you-" "Ah, c'mon, Goku - what about the Kaioken?" Zadkiel walked forward, and snapped his fingers, utterly restoring Kale of his injuries and of his attire. Even his scouter was strangely brought back. "OH YEAH! I can't believe I forgot about that!" Goku gave a toothy grin at Kale, "You're ready for something like that!" _________________ Power Level - 5000 Theme - A Day to Remember - All Signs Point to Lauderdale |

Kale marveled at being instantly healed and getting his attire changed. He was fully prepared to have to heal up before moving on. |

| "All right, uh...KAIO...KEN!!" Goku yelled as he charged his energy.
Goku charged up a powerful red aura of energy, as the planet began to shake from the sheer force of the power alone. Kaio and Zadkiel were knocked flat on their asses fromt he rumbling. After several seconds, the power subsided, and Goku turned to Kale.
"Normally, there's an incredibly complex thought and physical process that usually takes a serious toll on your life. However, I mastered it by learning a very process. You charge your energy to the point of maximum, however you don't transform. After a long-period of time and focus, which could take hours or even days, you will hear a little voice inside your head. Minutes later, you will taste a cherry flavor in your mouth, and finally that little voice will yell "OH YEEEEAAAAHHHHH!" Goku exclaimed, before turning to the three, who were sure to be flabbergasted, "So...any questions?" "...You're joking, right?" the Kaio exasperated, almost disappointed. "Of course not...why would I?" _________________ Power Level - 5000 Theme - A Day to Remember - All Signs Point to Lauderdale |

| "Err......alright then!" Kale powered down and cleared his mind. He certainly doubted Son Goku's method, but he was the greatest warrior in the universe. Kaio-sama had invented this technique but Son Goku was the undisputed master, after all. What could it hurt?
Kaio-sama shoot his head and patted Kale on the shoulder. "Good luck boy. I...just do what he told you. He's the one who, despite that THICK SAIYAN HEAD OF HIS has saved the universe over and over." Kaio-sama was a bit irked at his namesake technique being explained so ridiculously. Son Goku took no notice, simply smiling and waving at the Kaio's insult and chasing Bubbles around the planet, doing laps. Kale made a stupified anime face. He was an amazing fighter...but he was an idiot.
Nevertheless, Kale gathered his full power, letting it rise and bubble in him as water in a cauldron. The pure display of power from Goku fueled his drive to master the technique. He could feel Kaio-sama's and the mysterious Zadkiel's eyes on him, waiting to see if he could achieve the power of the Kaioken. It didn't matter if the world watched him power up, Kale desired only to master the god's technique to aide his friends and fulfill his vow to the Kami of multiple worlds. Kale's power subsided as he calmed himself, allowing his power to build and subside over and over again, each time at a steadier and more controlled rate.
After several hours of powering up further and further and letting it subside to be called easier than the time before, Kale sighed. "Still no cherry," he muttered. He raised his power up to its heights, a quick command after the powering up exercise. He felt the tides of the Super Saiyan power washing up against him like a golden sea, but he denied its surging might. Instead he reached deep inside, ignoring the ease of the Super Saiyan power now that it had been mastered and grasped the last bits of power he had.
He was at his full potential, and his attention was focused so far inward that he hadn't noticed the cracks and crevices he was making in the ground on Kaio-sama's world. His very feet were sinking into the ground which broke under the immense gravity of his ki. Kale's aura began surging from its usual blueish-violet to red, flickering with fire for a brief moment until he lost his focus and fell to the earth. He was beginning to understand the toll that the Kaioken would take on his body, and he dreaded eventually pressing himself beyond his limits and seeing what this multiplication of strength would do to him. He already felt immense strain on his body and he had only tapped the ability for the briefest of moments.
Kaio-sama waddled over to Kale and patted him on the shoulder. "For a first try, that wasn't bad at all son. Just remember that when you're beginning to tap into the Kaioken, you must--" "Didja taste the cherry yet??" Son Goku came running up to Kale and Kaio-sama, eager to check on Kale's progress. "No, not yet Goku," Kale sighed. He feared he would never actually learn from Kaio-sama, who actually invented the ability.
"He's not there yet Goku. He's close though, he'll taste it before he leaves here." "Oh goody! Be sure to come back here when you die again! I never get to meet any real strong guys since I'm stuck here in Otherworld. All the bad guys are down below and I've passed them up. Oh well," he said, running after Gregory. He carried that mallet with a glare in his eye just like a little kid. "How is he so great, Kaio-sama? He's a child." "I think that's it Kale. He's just like a child. His sense of right and wrong and fairness and who deserves to be saved...it's what makes him great."
Kaio-sama walked away, leaving Kale with a lot to think about. He immediately powered up to his maximum and closed his eyes, feeling his body teem with power. With his teeth gritted for the pain of the ability, he shouted "KAIOKEN!" Immediately Kale's aura burst with red ki and it burned around him like fire. The earth beneath him cracked and flew away with the larger rocks shattering around his aura.
Kale's eyes glazed over slightly with a red glare as he got into a fighting stance and leapt into the air, darting here and there with what seemed like instant speed. He landed back onto the tiny world with a punch into the ground, which left a rather large crater. He called out to Son Goku as he spit and let go of the power. "Tastes just like cherry!" Goku called back to him as he was smacking Gregory about with the mallet "I told ya!" Kale smiled at Kaio-sama and then fell to one knee.
His muscles ached as if he'd been fighting Goku all day and hadn't instantly been healed by Zadkiel. Kale's breath was short and he had a hard time keeping his balance after he stopped using the Kaioken. After a few minutes it wasn't as terrible but he was definitely fatigued. While using the ability, everything felt so natural and quick and now he felt so heavy and slow that it was boggling his mind.
"Is it natural to be this tired after such a short usage Lord?" Kaio-sama nodded and just said "It gets better the more you use it. Of course the more you use it, you'll want to increase the multiplication of the technique and that increases the fatigue. It's really like crack for a martial-artist, you know. A sudden explosion of power and then withdrawl." "Great," Kale sighed. "So eventually I'll rip myself apart?"
"Only if you insist on using it constantly and dialed up to 11. The Kaioken is more for short bursts of strength to put you over the top than a constant power up anyway," Kaio-sama instructed. "YEAH! And it's really good to surprise people, like how I did to the Ginyu Force! They didn't see it coming at all! I was really surprised, everyone told me how good they were..." "Goku, would you like a muffin? I think there are some in the house..." Kaio-sama lied.
Kale powered up again, this time commanding the Kaioken to appear in short bursts and then dismissing it, using it to warp around the planet or to add an exponential amount of strength to his blows. He definitely saw the advantages to this ability, despite its taxing cost. If he could use it early to stem the tide of battle, the fatigue was negligible. The crimson aura that burned around him became almost familiar, as if the burning fire of his heart were all around him, driving him to his new purpose. This would be the ability that enforced the word of Kami and protected the innocent on all worlds. The Super Saiyan with the Fist of the World King.
While still using the Kaioken, Kale fired several death beams into the distance, watching them spiral off almost instantly. His ki waves were larger, more powerful, and far faster than they had ever been. If powering up with the Kaioken would do this to his normal abilities, Kale felt the need to learn more powerful attacks. He knew he would pay a visit to the Turtle Hermit as soon as he was on Earth again. If he was going to learn from Goku, it was only fair.
"Hey Goku! When I eventually make it back here, what say we have another match for real? It was far too much fun to fight you just once yaknow? I'm sure you get tired of beating up Kaio-sama's pets, anyway!" Goku appeared next to Kale instantly and shook his hand. "You know it. Whenever you die again, we'll meet up. I hope that's soon, if you know what I mean!" Goku smiled cheesily and scratched the back of his head, hoping Kale understood what he meant.
Kale looked over at Zadkiel and nodded. "I'm ready Lord. However, if I might be so bold, could you change my clothes into something more Earthy and heroic? Maybe with Kaio-sama's emblem on them? I just don't think this armor fits me anymore. I've left the planetary warlord's life behind. I don't want this memory of Freeza any longer. |
